Pony & Calf 'doing well!'

A calf is being fostered by a Highland pony after being separated from its mother.

Ella, who is a Charolais cross, is being hand-reared by crofter Donna Maclennan with the help of 22-year-old pony Katie.

"Ella follows Katie everywhere and thinks she is her mum," said Inverness-based Donna. "They hate to be separated and when Ella is taken out of the field for feeding, the pair of them can't wait to be reunited."

Ella was separated from her birth mum as she was a twin and Donna was concerned that the cow wouldn't be able to cope.
