Money for Haiti

The Irish showjumping team has pledged to donate any prize money won at the Nations Cup in Abu Dhabi to the relief effort in Haiti, reports House & Hound.

Irish chef d'equipe Robert Splaine said that riders had been struck by the devastation caused by the Haitian earthquake on 12 January and wanted to make a contribution. First prize in the Nations Cup is €30,000 with €20,000 for second place and prize money down to €6,000 for sixth place.

The Irish squad was Cameron Hanley, Dermott Lennon, Cian O'Connor and Billy Twomey. GB were represented by: Guy Williams, Robert Whitaker, Ben Maher and Ellen Whitaker.
