Horse Artist's Work goes to Dubai!

BARNSLEY artist Jane Lazenby has been busy putting the finishing touches to a painting that is to be presented to Sheikh Hamdam Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai, reports the Yorkshire Post newspaper.

The portrait of Sheikh Maktoum's 1989 Derby winner, Nashwan, will be given to him at the opening of the International Horse Trade Fair and World Arabian Showing Championships on March 18.

Jane was thrilled to be asked to paint the picture and would love to have been able to travel to Dubai for the occasion.

However, she did not feel she could make the journey as she needs to be at home to look after her three-year-old daughter. "My dream would be to meet His Royal Highness when he is in this country," said Jane.

The commission came about through Olympic Horse Feeds. The company provides supplements to cater for the growing demands of performance animals – horses and camels – and is opening a new outlet in Dubai.
